Whatsapp updated with new features for Windows Phone

Good news for all the Windows users out there, today Whatsapp for Windows Phone was updated with brand new features that all the users were demanding and were in need of, me as well :)

Whatsapp for Windows Phone is now jumped to version 2.12.60 as u can see in the images below.

With the new version there are lot of new features too. After being there for the private users for a month or two, the Whatsapp calling, mp3 file sending and receiving along with other features is now available publicly.

After the update users will have a fourth column of 'calls' along with the previous three 'chats', 'favorites' and 'all'. For calling a contact they can simply open the contact in Whatsapp, hit the calling option available on the bottom of the screen.

The other feature is sending the mp3 or a song file to your contact. Simply open the contact you want to send song to, then tap on the attach symbol/option available there, tap audio. You will see two options : OneDrive and Phone. Select the one where you have your songs saved.

For example : If you have your songs saved on sdcard (external storage) then :
1. tap on phone
2. sd card (the last option in the list)
3. music
4. select the song you want to send

Other subtle changes that have made Whatsapp on Windows Phone more attractive and eye catching are the small notification icons that are present on the top of the screen where WHATSAPP is written. The small message box show you the number of unread messages and the small call icon show you the number of missed call you have.

One more change is under settings. Inside settings tap on account, then go to privacy, there you can enable or disable the 'Read Receipts'. Disabling Read Receipts will disable the blue ticks when a message is read. It will effect both the scenarios when you send messages as well as when you receive messages.

The Exciting new Windows 10 for mobiles

We all Microsoft fans are eagerly waiting for Windows 10 to release soon for all the Lumias and other Windows Phones we are rocking. But Why? What exciting new feature Windows 10 is gonna provide over the previous versions? Will it solve all the issues which we are currently facing? Will it change the fortunes for Microsoft in the smartphone market?

These are the some of the many questions which the Windows fans think of.
So is Windows 10 gonna solve all these? I think YES, a big YES.

Microsoft is working hard to make this major operating system update to be full of features that users demanded. Microsoft is exploring every nook and corner to make changes and improve things in every area. The One Windows thing is just amazing, with all the apps working seamlessly across all the Windows devices, the universal apps which works on all sort Windows devices you can imagine.

What we have seen till now, the latest being the 10136 BUILD for Windows 10 mobile is that there are significant changes in the User Interface, Photos app, Outlook mail and Calendar app, lockscreen and in Cortana too. These changes are making the Windows Phone more evolved and more unique.

We can see that the time and enter you password pad over the lock screen doesn't displace the lockscreen infact it simply moves over it and that is very beautiful to see. The Windows Store is also overhauled with changes made in the UI. It is now more easy to navigate through it. The settings tile is also majorly tweaked and changed. It's now easier to go through settings and find what you want.

You can see more in this video :

The operating system on the whole is looking great and it's just the starting. There will be a lot of changes and many more features would be added in the coming months before the Windows 10 for mobile officially launches. Microsoft is keeping it's eyes on the user forums as well, to bring changes to their mobile OS that users are demanding.

So what are your thoughts on Microsoft's effort in making Windows 10 the most evolved and smart Windows OS for mobiles ever.
